Powder Horn
Powder Horn is a fun six day course designed to expose leaders of Venturing, Sea scouts, Boy Scouts, and Varsity units to resources and experts available to southeast Texas scouting units and to provide hands-on experience with exciting activities for older youths.   Must be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America: Adult leader or Scout/Venturer/Sea Scout age 14  (read more)

VOA By-Laws
The council VOA is pleased to release the By-Laws for the Venturing Officers Association.  The By-Laws outline the governing rules followed by the SHAC VOA that include procedures for the election of officers to the VOA.

Kodiak

Staffing NYLT
Youth staff for NYLT courses are selected by the Course Directors for specific courses. Selection is made from a pool of candidates. There are two ways Scouts enter the staffing pool: 1) as a result of the recommendation of the staff when the Scout participated in NYLT or 2) as a result of the Scout applying. The second method involves a personal interview.

Wood Badge Update
Older Venturing youth (18-20) are now eligible to attend Wood Badge. Click HERE to register for Wood Badge! Here are the dates for the 2012 courses:

-SHAC 121 - March 2-4 & Mar 23-25, 2012 (begins Friday at 7:30 AM, ends Sunday at 5:00 PM)

-SHAC 122 - April 19-21 & May 10-12, 2012 (begins Thursday at 7:30 AM, ends Saturday at 5:00 PM)

-SHAC 123 - September 28-30 & October 26-28, 2012 (begins Friday at 7:30 AM, ends Sunday at 5:00 PM)

-SHAC 124 - October 18-20 & November 15-17, 2011 (begins Thursday at 7:30 AM, ends Saturday at 5:00 PM)
