Venturing Leadership Award
Do you know Venturers who have made exceptional contributions to Venturing and who exemplify the Venturing Code and Venturing Oath? Nominate them for a Council VLA using the form found here. Forms are due to the Council office by June 1st.
Do you have OR are you looking to be an Officer in your Crew, Ship, District or even Council? Then consider taking National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) during Summer 2013! This camp is extremely fun and very beneficial in developing leadership skills. The week consists of team development games, teaching skills as well as just a good time camping with new friends. There are two courses being offered this summer at Camp Strake in NW Houston. Registration for the summer NYLT courses will begin later in January, 2013. Course dates are June 9-13 (Sun-Fri) and June 17-22 (Mon-Sat). Venturing, Sea Scouts and Boy Scouts are ALL WELCOME. Sail Daze
Mark your calendars now for the next SHAC Fleet event. Sail Daze for Sea Scouts, Venturers, and Boy Scout youth who are fourteen and older will be held at Houston Yacht Club on April 27, 2013. Youth will be sailing a variety of small craft on Galveston Bay. It is recommended that Venturing crews and Boy Scout youth that plan to attend make contact with a neighboring ship for some sailing pointers before getting out on the bay. Registration information will be released soon.
October 19: Fall Regatta and the race for the Commodore’s Bowl.
November 2: Council Bridge of Honor and Ball recognizing all youth advancement in SHAC Fleet
Seabadge is an advanced leadership training course for adults currently registered as Scout leaders and council professionals and commissioner staff. Volunteer participants, must be actively involved in a Scout leader position for at least one year and must have completed Sea Scout Adult Leadership Basic Training. Seabadge is intense leadership and management training focused on the “how-to” aspects of successful program management. (Flyer & Registration Form)
